COLUMBUS – Ohio Governor Mike DeWine has selected Lieutenant Governor Jon Husted to fill Vice President-Elect J.D. Vance’s vacant U.S. Senate seat.

The father of three and husband of Tina Husted, Lt. Governor Husted has served as the Speaker of the Ohio House of Representatives and Secretary of State.

“Throughout his service to Ohio, Lt. Governor Husted has been a champion for Ohio’s children and families. Under his leadership, Ohio has become a national school-choice leader and has taken significant steps to protect parental rights.
“I’m grateful for Governor DeWine selecting a pro-life leader who understands the challenges Ohio communities and families are facing today.
“Along with Senator Bernie Moreno, Ohio will be a strong force in the U.S. Senate for faith, family, and freedom.”
